Red Flour Beetle

Scientific Name: Tribolium castaneum
The Red Flour Beetle, Tribolium castaneum, is easily confused with the Confused Flour The Red Flour Beetle is shorter in length, measuring 2.3 – 3.5 mm long and it’s antennae have 3 segmented clubs. The antennae of the Confused Flour Beetle has 4 segments. Both Red & Confused Flour Beetle adults are very active and the females lay an average of 450 eggs. Their larvae attack stored products such as pasta, grains, chocolate, nuts and many more.
