Silverfish

Scientific Name: Lepisma saccharina

Silverfish, Lepisma saccharina, seek environments which are moist and dark and found where temperatures are relatively warm and humid. They feed on mold, mildew and starches. Examples of starches they commonly seek are wallpaper and books. They may cause major damage to books.

All Silverfish have long antennae protruding from their head and are wingless. They range in size from 12 – 18 mm.
