Yellowjacket - Western
Scientific name: Vespula/Paravespula pensylvanica
The western yellowjacket is a scavenger and loves proteins and carbs and will be aggressive when it comes to it’s food sources: meat, insects and any sweets. It requires a different lure to attract this guy! That’s why we offer a separate trap for the Western Yellowjacket. Identification is key when it comes to trapping this one. And early trapping is key as well. In early spring, set traps out to capture queens who are out looking for protein and nesting materials. For each queen you capture, you’ve eliminated a colony of western yellow jackets :-).
